The Forbidden Kingdom

An American teenager who is obsessed with Hong Kong cinema and kung-fu classics makes an extraordinary discovery in a Chinatown pawnshop: the legendary stick weapon of the Chinese sage and warrior, the Monkey King. With the lost relic in hand, the teenager unexpectedly finds himself traveling back to ancient China to join a crew of warriors from martial arts lore on a dangerous quest to free the imprisoned Monkey King.

TheProvence’s Review:

in my opinion, it’s a little bit boring. it just felt as if i already know what would the plot be like, what would the fight stance, words to be spoken, how does the villain die.  Maybe it was because the story was about Monkey King a.ka. SunWuGong, everything was just so predictable. Yet the joke that once in awhile will be said, was still very hillarious, all those action that make me laugh also is funny, especially the part when Jackie was suppose to summon the Rain but came out urine. wtf

What i don’t really like about The Forbidden Kingdom was….. The Language! how could all in a sudden ancient dynasty people knows how to speak English?! wtfbbqomgdoremi. it just doesn’t makes sense to me. I know that the movie was suppose to be a Hollywood movie, but i still felt Shaolin, Crouching Tiger, Praying Mantis, Buddha Palm & Shadow Kick was always connected to either Mandarin or Cantonese. It just felt very weird all in a sudden, dynasty monks knows how to speak fluent English. Don’t really make sense to me. Just imagine all those ancient clothes they were wearing and speaking English. I nearly laugh out loud when i was hearing them speaking.  *sigh* really don’t know how to say about the language already. Right now i felt like Shaoling speaks English so damn fluent, then when they plan to film another Taoist movie also with English. So main-stream. Just like Cloverfield, if in one year two types of those movie being screen, i will kick the person who first invented those type of chickenbone handycam movie.

Thou all in all, if you wish to see two martial arts kungfu guy fighting especially if it’s dragon’s famous kungfu guy either than Bruce Lee which is Jet Li and Jackie Chan. It is a MUST watch for u. If u expect for something very genuine, then please go watch The Curse of The Golden Flowers again.
